Position Title: Assistant Manager for Sponsored Projects

Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), Case School of Engineering, is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager for Sponsored Projects to provide high‑level financial, administrative, and compliance oversight for a complex portfolio of interdisciplinary research grants and contracts within the Center for Human Performance and Resilience.

This role works with a high degree of independence and serves as a key partner to faculty, research teams, and administrators across affiliated academic and clinical departments, managing proposal development, sponsored project finances, reporting, and compliance for a portfolio exceeding $10 million in active funding.

Key Responsibilities

·      Manage pre-award and post-award grant administration for complex, multi-institutional, industry-sponsored, and clinical research projects.

·      Lead proposal development activities, including budget preparation, budget justifications and coordination with principal investigators and partner institutions.

·      Serve as the primary financial and business manager for assigned sponsored projects, including forecasting, financial modeling, and monthly financial reviews.

·      Monitor budgets, expenditures, and ensure compliance with federal, sponsor, and university requirements.

·      Prepare financial reports, budget revisions, and required sponsor documentation.

·      Manage submissions through federal systems (Grants.gov, Research.gov, ASSIST) and internal routing processes.

·      Coordinate with central administrative offices, hospital affiliates, and external partners to support effective research operations.

·      Participate in leadership teams and committees supporting short‑ and long‑term departmental strategy and cross‑training initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience, or associate’s degree and 7+ years of related experience. Demonstrated grant or sponsored project administration experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

·      Master’s degree

·      Experience with federal research administration and 2 CFR Part 200.

·      Familiarity with ASSIST, Grants.gov, Research.gov, PeopleSoft, Oracle, or SPARTA.

·      Experience in an academic, medical, or research-intensive environment.

Salary

Case Western Reserve University is committed to providing a transparent estimate of the salary range available for this position at the time of its posting. The salary range is between $52,705 and $66,672, depending on qualifications, experience, department budgets, and industry data.
