Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of full-time relevant responsible experience in research security compliance, sponsored programs, research, conflict of interest/commitment, undue foreign influence or other appropriate administrative support background. In lieu of an Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience, any combination of relevant education and experience totaling five (5) years (relevant experience may reflect research administration, research compliance, foreign influence, sponsored programs administration, or other appropriate administrative support background, etc.) may be considered. Generalized knowledge of federally funded research requirements. Experience with presentation tools such as PowerPoint, Google Sheets, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with federal regulatory requirements or research compliance experience as they related to research security including foreign influence and sponsor disclosure requirements Experience with developing training materials. Experience with organizing information and data into a report. Experience in higher education. Experience working in a large complex organization such as a large university, hospital, or large-sized company/not-for-profit organization.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Research Security Program Assistant will report to the Director of Research Security in the Office of Research Security. This position will provide support for the Research Security program at the university, ensuring compliance with applicable federal laws and regulations. This position will support the Director of Research Security with the triaging of information and reports to assist the Director in the investigation and response to foreign influence related inquiries, concerns, and complaints. Assist with researching foreign influence related topics and regulation changes. Assist in the development and delivery of training and guidance on foreign influence, federal sponsor disclosure standards, insider threat awareness, and controlled-unclassified research requirements. Assist with recordkeeping of the program's documents and work within a team environment. Oversee the compliance of research security training for the campus. Handle routine correspondence. Schedule events and meetings for the Director of Research Security. The impact and scope of these duties, along with the auditing, and legal compliance duties, require the use of discretion and judgment on matters of significance to the mission of the university.
● Program Support
○ Assists the Director of Research Security and team members with the daily functions of the research security compliance program.
○ Assistance with review of organizational activities for any foreign influence implications. Coordinates with other Departments/Team Members as needed to complete foreign influence reviews.
○ Creation of reports regarding university international activities. Assistance with the maintenance of foreign influence tracking systems, databases, and documentation.
○ Assist with the creation and delivery of foreign influence compliance education and training.
○ Establish excellent working relationships with key stakeholders and groups.
○ Serve as a resource to the research community and other administrative offices in answering inquiries related to research security, international collaborations, and engagement with foreign entities and/or triage to other team members as appropriate.
○ Serve as the administrator for a central email inbox for the Office of Research Security.
○ Monitors Routinely monitor informational channels for changes to federal regulatory requirements for research security.
○ Assist the Director of Research Security with the maintenance of policies, processes, and programs directly related to the foreign influence area of research security.
○ Assist the Director of Research Security to develop and implement a training program for SBU to conduct a restricted research program, permitting SBU's restricted research portfolio.
○ Coordinate training sessions and workshops with other team members in the Office of Research Security.
○ Assist the Director of Research Security with website content, newsletter preparation and training materials in all areas of foreign influence and sponsor disclosure requirements.
● Other duties as assigned.
Special Notes:
The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) to be offered for this position is noted below, it represents SBU's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Salary: 67,000 - 75,000
