What We Are Looking For

Baylor University is seeking a Research Support Specialist to support the mission of the University. This position will support the Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences. The Research Support Specialist position provides Robbins College research-active faculty with unit-specific administrative support related to submission and sustainability of external research grants and contracts. The position is designed to work in parallel and collaboratively with existing support from the Robbins College Director of Research and Grant Administration (Director), the Robbins College Associate Dean for Research (ADR), the Robbins College Financial team, the Office of the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR), Human Resources (HR), and central finance support.

A Bachelor's Degree and five years of relevant work experience is required. A Master's Degree is preferred.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What You Will Do

  • Assist research faculty with administrative duties associated with sponsored projects
  • Collaborate with the Robbins College Director as it relates to supporting faculty with sponsored project submissions and compliance, including providing faculty with CARA system support
  • Assist faculty with responding to and incorporating formal and informal peer reviews into their grant development process
  • Collaborate with Robbins HCM (HR) and the Robbins College Financial team as it relates to faculty and staff hires associated with external grants
  • Alongside the Robbins College Director, serve as a liaison to both pre- and post-award University Research Administrators (URAs, OVPR), assisting faculty with requests related to proposal submission, agreements, and associated accounts
  • In coordination with OVPR staff, support faculty members' anticipated accounts, subaward agreements, technical reports, no-cost, and other contract extension modifications
  • Assist research faculty, Robbins HCM (HR), and the post-award URA with expenditure confirmation processes
  • Attend meetings and trainings offered by the OVPR, as well as those offered at the College level to enhance and improve research administration efforts
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
