Vice President Research Administration, Phoenix Children's Research Institute

Overview

Phoenix Children's, one of the nation's largest pediatric health systems, is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as their new Vice President, Research Administration (VPRA). This is an exceptional opportunity to join this complex, $1 billion system with over 1,400 specialists providing world-class care across more than 75 subspecialties. In 2023, Phoenix Children's was named one of the U.S. News & World Report's Best Children's Hospitals for the thirteenth consecutive year.

Phoenix Children's is continuing to advance its journey to being one of the top 10 pediatric health systems. Organizations that achieve this distinction demonstrate excellence in three critical and interrelated areas: clinical excellence, educating the next generation of providers, and pioneering research. Today, Phoenix Children's clinical care is outperforming many of these leading organizations and are among the largest educators of physicians in the nation. Building out the recently formed Phoenix Children's Hospital Research Institute (PCHRI) will solidify the foundation needed to be among the best pediatric health systems in the world.

PCHRI is being created in partnership between Phoenix Children's and University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix (UACOM-P) who in 2019 jointly engaged in a process to refine their affiliation and improve their alignment. Both organizations view the academic affiliation as essential, with each organization enabling the other to achieve goals and capabilities they would be unable to achieve on their own. The vision of the affiliation is, "To strengthen our academic partnership to become a nationally renowned, pediatric innovative center of excellence across clinical, research, and educational domains."

The VPRA is a key leadership position within Phoenix Children's and imperative to the success of building PCHRI to help achieve Phoenix Children's goal of improving children's health through innovative research. This role is newly created, and has a dual reporting relationship to Phoenix Children's President and CEO, Robert Meyer, and their Chief Physician Executive and COO of Phoenix Children's Medical Group, Jared Muenzer, MD. The VPRA will serve as an administrative dyad and close partner to Stewart Goldman, M.D., Senior Vice President of Research and Chair of the Department of Child Health. The VPRA will also work closely with the PCHRI Director, Vladimir Kalinichenko, M.D., Ph.D.
