The Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects (OGSP) lies administratively within the Division of Academic Affairs. OGSP is charged with facilitating all aspects of external grant funding and certain sponsored projects that otherwise do not fall under the purview of the Office of Alumni and Development. The OGSP is responsible for supporting the development and submission of grant applications, managing grant funding upon award, and overseeing federal, state, sponsor, and university guidelines and regulations.

Position Summary:
The Proposal Coordinator's primary focus is to develop and submit grant proposals to federal, state, local, and private funding sources. The Proposal Coordinator will interact directly with faculty, staff, and librarians during the proposal development process with the goal of ensuring compliance with proposal preparation criteria to increase the likelihood of success.

The successful candidate will be a staff member who will work with their faculty and administrative colleagues to seek and apply for external grant funding.

Supervision received: Reports to the Executive Director of Grants and Sponsored Projects

This is an APA position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.

Essential Duties:
1. Lead in the development of project budgets and budget narratives to align with project narratives
2. Advise and make recommendations to principal investigators (PI) in the development of grant proposal structure and in the coordination of all required supplemental documents3. Must proactively engage in professional development to maintain knowledge of compliance mandates on the federal and state level including, but not limited to, 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance4. Maintain current knowledge of funding trends, proposal components, and all University and specific sponsor guidelines and requirements5. Utilize the various electronic research administration portals (e.g., Grants.gov, Research.gov) to prepare proposals for submission to federal, state, local, and private funding sources6. Assist in the development of outreach strategies to increase grant activity (e.g., website, e-mail alerts, grant workshops, announcements, presentations, informational materials, and meetings)7. Proposal Coordinator will consult with faculty, staff, and librarians to ascertain research/external funding goals8. Utilizing an understanding of faculty and librarians research agendas; identify, evaluate, and disseminate information about grant opportunities9. Update network drive and database as needed, develop compliance matrices and timelines for active proposals10. Develop systems to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of pre-award procedures11. Assist the Executive Director and Assistant Director with other duties as needed

Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree2. Minimum of two years sponsored research administration or related experience3. Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, provide meticulous attention to detail4. Excellent speaking and writing skills5. Strong organizational and analytical skills6. Experience with grants management principles, practices, and procedures7. Experience in grants submission protocols8. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively in an office environment and with diverse colleagues9. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs, with an emphasis on Excel

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree2. Sponsored research administration experience including grant submissions (eRA) in an institution of higher education3. Knowledge of higher education principles, practices, and procedures4. Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and working knowledge of SharePoint
