Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a dynamic leader with accounting experience to lead the Office of Sponsored Projects as Executive Director. The Executive Director ensures the compliant and efficient administration of all aspects of the department, including ensuring compliance with funding agency regulations and institutional policies as well as managing the forms and fiscal controls used to guarantee compliance with laws and external guidelines.
The Director manages activities related to grants and contracts funding research, including but not limited to federal, state and private grants, and establishes processes to ensure compliance with funder, federal and accepted industry standards. They provide support to administration, faculty and staff, as well as resources and training to support a culture of effective sponsored research program management.
The Director acts as a liaison with research sponsors on behalf of the University and works closely with other departments to ensure consistent implementation of processes, policies and regulations. They also identify new funding opportunities and collaborate with researchers and staff to establish and maintain strong relationships with external sponsors, in order to ensure the success and credibility of the department's work and the reputation of the University and NSHE. This position reports to the Associate Vice President, Compliance and Research Administration (AVPCAR).
Required Qualifications
Master's Degree and four (4) years of related professional and managerial work experience; OR a Doctoral Degree and two (2) years of related professional and managerial work experience.
Related experience: research administration, post-award administration, contract negotiation and budgetary experience or related research activities, including two years in a supervisory role.
Certification and Licensure
Certified Research Administrator or the ability to become a Certified Research Administrator within the first 12 months of employment.

Compensation Grade
The typical salary range for this position is $185,000 to $205,000. Salary is based on related education and experience, internal equity and budgets.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees

Department Information
The Office of Sponsored Projects team serves five main functions: Proposal review and submission Award negotiation and setup Post-award accounting, monitoring and invoicing Compliance, advisory and regulatory services Education, training and outreach. Sponsored Projects aims to minimize the research administrative burden on faculty and assists the University in assuring that maximum public benefit is derived from sponsored projects funding. We collaborate with principal investigators and research administrators across campus as well as sponsors at the local, state and federal level including non-profit organizations and industry.
