Associate Vice President, Research Administration

Overview

The position will be based at the University of Rhode Island’s Kingston campus.

Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Position is full time, calendar year, limited to June 29, 2024 with anticipated renewal.

The University of Rhode Island (URI) seeks a strategic leader to serve as the next Associate Vice President for Research (AVPR).  The AVPR will work closely with the Vice President for Research to help lead and steward URI’s research mission and realize our research goals prominently encompassed throughout URI’s new strategic vision (https://web.uri.edu/president/strategic-plan/). URI’s strategic vision is agile and dynamic and designed to evolve so to enable us to respond to changes in the world and our communities while maintaining a firm commitment to our land and sea grant missions, our institutional vision and foundational values.

The next AVPR will join the Division of Research and Economic Development at an exciting and pivotal time as the University works to realize it’s new strategic vision.  Reporting to and working closely with the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, the new AVPR will lead the Offices of Sponsored Projects and Research Integrity and Research Oversite.

The AVPR will work with the VPR to further develop and establish new partnerships within the URI community and externally with local, state, and national stakeholders and help grow URI’s reputation as a world-class institution of research and scholarship.

The AVPR will help foster a culture of customer service and collaboration in the Division of Research and cultivate an accessible, collaborative, and supportive resource for the URI community and a supportive and rewarding workplace environment.

The AVPR will be empowered to identify critical staffing needs and recruit talented employees.

The AVPR will serve as the primary resource for all URI campuses on all compliance matters at the federal, state, local, and institutional level.

The search will remain open until the position has been filled. First consideration will be given to applications received by May 1, 2023. Second consideration may be given to applications received by June 1, 2023. Applications received subsequent to second consideration date (June 1, 2023) may not be given full consideration.
