As a Financial Manager in the School of Mechanical Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing financial policies and procedures, managing budgets, and generating financial reports. Additionally, you will lead a team to handle day-to-day financial management of faculty portfolios, focusing on developing and preparing financial data related to grants, contracts, endowments, and other funds.
To excel in this role, you'll need a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field, as well as four to five years of job-related experience. You should also have advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices within a university environment. Exceptional skills in communication and problem-solving are essential. You should also be comfortable using office and finance/accounting related computer applications and systems.
As a member of our team, you'll interact with unit general and senior financial management, faculty, staff, and students as well as and Institute-wide financial management. You'll advise and counsel unit management and supervise assigned financial staff. We are looking for someone with attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to use specialized accounting-related computer applications. Experience managing sponsored research funds (NIH, NSF, DoE, etc.) and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment are also preferred.
