Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Research Development Specialist (RDS) to join an energetic and growing team for Research & Proposal Development Services (RPDS) within Research & Innovation (R&I).

The RDS will join a team of professionals working to enhance the competitiveness of the research environment on campus in pursuit of key metrics critical to the University strategic plan. The RPDS teams is responsible for identifying and disseminating funding opportunities, coordinating large multidisciplinary proposals, conducting proposal reviews and editing, organizing research trainings events, and managing faculty honorific awards.

Under the direction of the Director of Research Development, the RDS will support and lead RPDS initiatives in pursuit of R&I goals and objectives. To that end, the RDS will maintain a broad understanding of the research funding landscape, ensure compliance requirements are met for multidisciplinary complex proposals to funding agencies, identify various funding opportunities including federal, business, state, and nonprofit research funding, and organize research training events such as seminars, lightning talks, panels, and discussions. Additionally, the RDS will be responsible for building and managing the honorific faculty award programs and assisting with applicant materials as needed. The RDS will also collect and verify data about faculty productivity and University research metrics to evaluate university success.

The RDS is expected to be a strong team player who works collaboratively when appropriate and independently as needed. The position requires a high amount of self-motivation and drive to meet expectations. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years of related work experience; OR a master's degree and one year of related work experience.

Related Experience: research development or sponsored activities in a university setting or academic environment.

B
