Rice University, among the nation’s most ambitious and renowned private research universities and a member of the American Association of Universities (AAU), welcomes applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Vice President for Research Integrity and Compliance (AVPR). The incoming AVPR will have the opportunity to build upon and grow a research safety and compliance function critical to the astonishing upward trajectory of Rice, on its way to doubling its research awards over the next five years.
The AVPR will report to the Vice President for Research, Dr. Ramamoorthy Ramesh, a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) and a world-renowned leader in next-generation energy technologies. The AVPR will work hand-in-glove with William Turner, the Assistant Vice President for Research, responsible for coordinating across functional arms of this fast-growing research enterprise. The AVPR will be an exemplar of both rigor and innovation in bolstering an excellent compliance function while redefining its orientation and responsiveness to a new era of research growth at Rice. The AVPR will have a significant hiring opportunity, building out the Office of Research Integrity and Compliance alongside other new AVPR’s and new Directors of programs at a nimble, fast-moving University. The successful candidate will have significant experience in the administration of rigorous compliance programs, together with an ambition to support innovation and entrepreneurship. They must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students, and to develop creative solutions in an increasingly complex and dynamic compliance environment so that faculty and students pursue research with minimal administrative burden.
