Job Summary
The Contracts Administrator provides support for the administration and processing of contracts and agreements for sponsored research projects across the University. Will draft, review, and negotiate various types of contracts, cooperative agreements, sponsored research agreements and sub-recipient agreements with private, industry and federal partners on behalf of the University.
Essential Functions
Contract Review:
- Identify, define, and resolve issues related to sponsored project contracting activities in accordance with federal, other government, funding agency, and institutional policies and regulations
- Prepares contracts and agreements to support research programs
- Engages negotiation on behalf of Drexel University Office of Research and Innovation
- Provides expertise in identifying needs for contract finalization and meeting all federal, other government, funding agency, and institutional policies and regulations
- Support Drexel's research community in the administration of contracts and agreements for externally sponsored projects, funded and unfunded
- Utilize and maintain systems and procedures related to processing of contracts and agreements
Communication:
- Interacts with collaborating units both internal to the Office of Research (i.e., Compliance, Grants) and other units across the University (i.e., OGC, Risk Management, Schools & Colleges) for the successful completion of contract and agreement reviews
- Interacts with a research faculty and professional staff across the University for successful completion of contract review
Collaboration and team development:
- Promotes and cultivates relationships with faculty and University administrators
- Interacts with representatives of various public and private research sponsors for scholarly and pedagogical activities
Other:
- Perform special projects and other responsibilities as required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Requires the ability to comprehend federal, state, and local grant contract regulations and restrictions and sponsored research guidelines
- Skills and experience in contract negotiation
- Knowledge of computer applications
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and process large amounts of information
- Ability to time mange and prioritize
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse clientele thru multiple modalities (etc. in person, verbal, written, zoom)
- Ability to work as a member of a large, complex support team; must have good interpersonal skills; must be a good communicator
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience, including but not limited to contract negotiation and/or research administration
- Master's degree or JD
- Experience at a non-profit or academic research institution is highly desirable
- Paralegal degree
