The School of Nursing and Health Studies is looking to fill a Sr. Sponsored Program Specialist vacancy. The incumbent will be responsible for the day to day activities of pre-award and post-award account transactions and reconciliations for the School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS). The specialist will provide support to the SONHS Business Office. This position will work with the Director of Research Support on grant submissions including budget preparation and online grant submissions. In addition, the specialist will assist in conducting quality assurance for the SONHS research studies for monitoring and maximizing research integrity.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Preparing grant application to NIH and other agencies including completion of all UM and agency forms
  • Budget development of proposed study
  • Work with the Office of Research Administration to process grant submissions
  • Reconciles sponsored accounts using both Workday reports and BI reports provided by University Central offices
  • Evaluate actual expenditures in compliance with Federal and University policies
  • Tracking of all sponsored awards received, including responsibility for review and interpretation to the faculty member of all award terms and conditions, with special attention to reporting requirements of the investigator
  • Makes sound decisions by applying sponsored programs regulations, including government-wide regulations, sponsoring agencies’ specific regulations, University policies and procedures, and University sponsored policies and procedures. Interprets regulations and assists faculty investigators and administrators in understanding sponsored programs requirements
  • Works independently with limited supervision
  • Prepares expenditures request in Workday including expense reimbursements, purchase order requisitions, journals, etc.
  • Track and log all expenditures to ensure completion through the approval process
  • Submit and track invoices for payment of research grants
  • Track all subcontracts, including foreign entities, and review of subcontractors’ invoices
  • Responsible for the regulatory oversight of SONHS’ research studies to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Conduct quality assurance including the initiation visit and an implementation visit every three months thereafter. Visit includes regulatory oversight of all consent and HIPAA/FERPA forms as appropriate to the study and 10% of data monitoring.
  • Become familiar with protocol and study standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Verify compliance with regulatory requirements, as well as compliance of study staff with their CITI training and specific study related trainings
  • Minimize potential protocol deviations that can negatively affect the quality of data collected and comprise human subject’s protection

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
