Manager, Research Administration

Overview

The Center for Social Science Scholarship supports and strengthens social science research, teaching, and community and professional engagement and enhances the future of innovative, collaborative, cross- and interdisciplinary, and cutting-edge social science scholarship at UMBC. One component of CS3 is a grants administration unit, which assists faculty and departments in obtaining funding for research, providing pre- and post-award administration, and linking the analytical resources of the university with policy makers in the state and region.

Responsibilities

The Manager of Research Administration is responsible for pre- and post-award administration of grants with an emphasis on proposal development and routing. The incumbent will also oversee grant-related payroll and monitor and reconcile award-related finances.

Requires a Bachelor's degree preferably in Business, Finance or related area and three years of research administration or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Finance or a related field
  • Six years of research administration experience, especially with NIH proposals and awards
  • Experience in higher education preferred
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
  • Ability to work with various software technologies, such as PeopleSoft Financial and Human Resources and Kuali is strongly desired
  • CRA or research related certification preferred

This is a full-time, regular, exempt position.
