Sponsored Programs Analyst

Overview

 

Dakota State University’s Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is seeking applications for a full-time Sponsored Programs Analyst. The position will provide fiscal, compliance, and reporting support to the Office of Sponsored Programs across the entire award lifecycle. The successful candidate, will assist OSP, in collaboration with the Business Office, with complex efforts including proposal budget development, award monitoring, billing, and reporting.

The position will report directly to the Office of Sponsored Programs Director but will work closely with all Research and Economic Development (RED) staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist PIs in developing proposal budgets and budget justification documents using standard principles of allowability, allocability, reasonability, and consistent treatment of costs and generate related administrative components within agency platforms (e.g. Grants.gov, Research.gov, etc.).
  • Monitor awards and subrecipients for fiscal compliance, in collaboration with the Business Office, for time and effort accuracy, research-related travel, and other budget-related elements through award closeout.
  • Review sponsor and award terms and conditions, sub-awards, no-cost extension requests, submission of revised budgets in collaboration with OSP Director and VPR.
  • Maintain internal controls in alignment with external rules and regulations, alerting OSP and investigators to potential non-compliance and working with the Business Office on audit activities and corrective action plans.
  • Verify, monitor, and review cost sharing and effort reporting.
  • Prepare financial status reports for sponsored projects, support investigator preparation of sponsor financial reports, support departmental preparation of invoices, and work with Business Office staff to monitor any accounts receivable related to sponsored programs.
  • Support OSP and VPR in development of internal and external reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in office environment or higher education environment is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong record keeping and communication skills required.
  • Aptitude for diplomacy.
  • Discernment regarding privileged, sensitive, and confidential information.
  • High aptitude for organization, detail orientation.
  • Must absorb new fiscal and technical information in dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory environment (2 CFR 200) desirable.
  • Knowledge of multiple computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook is required.
