Research Administration Training and Development Specialist

Overview

Virginia Tech seeks a Research Administration Training and Development Specialist to develop and foster training, development and outreach initiatives in support of research financial and non-financial administration and compliance activities. This position will support the research administration, compliance and scholarly integrity efforts to minimize financial, contractual and regulatory exposure. In pursuit of this mission, this position will serve as an integral partner with the university’s Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and Scholarly Integrity and Research Compliance (SIRC) division in providing resources to internal stakeholders. Research is a fundamental part of the university’s mission and OSP and SIRC are key partners in oversight and support of faculty research efforts.

OSP’s mission is to provide a comprehensive array of support services for faculty and staff as they pursue and manage external funding projects. SIRC’s mission is to facilitate scholarly excellence by fostering ethical decision-making and ensure research regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Sponsored Programs, with a dotted line reporting to the Associate Vice President for Scholarly Integrity and Research Compliance, the Research Administration Training and Development Specialist will foster cross functional partners to design, develop, scale, deliver and evaluate training needs provided by OSP and SIRC. The specialist is expected to be innovative and passionate about developing people and delivering training programs using current tools and trends in learning (especially the complexity of virtual learning and meaningfully connecting with dispersed teams in a remote work environment), as well as facilitating discussions with leaders, and project planning the design and execution of large-scale learning events.
