Program Director of Research Integrity and Compliance

Are you excited to take your research and leadership skills to a new level?  Then the Program Director of Research Integrity and Compliance at South Dakota State University (SDSU) in Brookings, South Dakota is the place for you.  Under the direction of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, this position will be a core partner in SDSU’s research growth.  The Program Director of Research Integrity and Compliance will promote research excellence through research integrity and compliance as the university pursues a multi-faceted research growth agenda.  We are looking for a hands-on learner and leader who is committed to SDSU’s core values.  This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position. 

 

The university is in a multi-faceted transition to grow our impact through research, scholarship, and creative activity.  Recent build out of facilities to support research exceeds $200 million.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide vision and leadership among university sectors and stakeholders for implementing and continuously improving SDSU’s research integrity and regulatory compliance;
  • Provide for accountability of the university’s research complies with federal and state laws and regulations and relevant policies and holds to a high standard of responsible conduct;
  • Ensure timely information to university leadership on issues of regulatory compliance and responsible conduct of research;  
  • Areas of responsibility include research involving human subjects; research and other programming involving animal subjects; export control and foreign influence; and other areas including, but not limited to, conflict of interest and conflict of commitment, unmanned aircraft systems, biosafety and recombinant DNA, and dual use research of concern.

 

SALARY RANGE:

The salary range for the Program Director of Research Integrity and Compliance is $72,000 - $107,000.  We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 6% matching, 10 hours of annual leave each month, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and eleven paid holidays.  Relocation benefits are available per university’s guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a related field of study or a Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience developing and leading compliance in research involving human subjects or animal subjects completed by date of application;
  • Interpersonal, adaptability, collaborative, and leadership skills in a complex organizational structure;
  • A valid driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire; and
  • At least three years of experience developing and leading compliance in one or more of this position’s areas of responsibility.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five or more years of experience leading program development and implementation in several or all areas of responsibility;
  • Demonstrated leadership of high performing teams;
  • Demonstrated leadership in building partnerships across organizational sectors, leadership levels, and stakeholder groups; and
  • Experience conducting self-assessments of compliance controls.
