Overview
The Research Administrator for DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center at Houston Methodist Research Institute serves as the administrative leader for the day-to-day operations of research conducted within the Department of Heart and Vascular Center, and is responsible for its strategic management and coordination. The position reports to the President and Chief Executive Officer of Houston Methodist Research Institute and the role includes assisting the Department Chairs with recruitment and management of faculty, research and administrative staff, as well as research visitors. This position coordinates fiscal activities and ensures compliance with Houston Methodist policies. In particular, the Research Administrator is responsible for the financial management of internally and externally supported budgets. The position also performs administrative duties required for direct supervision of functional groups and administrative support staff, and provides leadership and direction to Department managers and staff, as appropriate.
Houston Methodist Heart and Vascular Center Research is a state of the art program with over 100 clinician and scientist faculty, over 100 support staff and visitings scientists, 200+ clinical trials and 15,000 sq. ft of basic sciences labs.
