Job Summary
Supports the mission of the Office of Research by supervising and managing all sponsored research and program activities. Provides leadership and performance supervision for all sponsored programs staff and ensures their professional training and development. Is responsible for effective and compliant implementation of all research policies and procedures. Ensures high quality professional service and engagement to support university researchers in the attainment and stewardship of external funding to enhance their scholarship. Works closely with partners in other research-related units to enable an integrated approach to sponsored programs management across the university. Reports to the Associate Provost for Research Services.

Responsibilities

 

  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
  • Provide leadership and management for the sponsored programs staff dedicated to pre-award and some post-award functions
  • Supervise and review all proposal submissions to government, non-profit, and industry sponsors
  • Ensure alignment with federal regulations, USG and university policies, and sponsor requirements for all proposals and awards
  • Maintain internal platforms, resources, and documentation for proposals and award management.
  • Work closely with other members of the Office of Research leadership team to ensure consistency in the areas of compliance, communication, data management and reporting
  • Work with faculty and staff to solve pre-award issues before proposals are submitted to sponsors
  • Act as liaison between University and sponsors concerning pre- and post-award issues
  • Communicate with faculty and staff on any changes or updates to relevant policies, processes and regulations
  • Engage in other duties and responsibilities as appropriate to advancing the support mission of the Office of Research


Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree


Other Required Qualifications

 

 

  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA)
  • Professional knowledge of regulations governing federal research funding and related areas of regulatory compliance


Required Experience

 

 

  • Five (5) or more years of related work experience in sponsored programs management, including proposal development, budgeting, and grant writing
  • Demonstrable experience drafting and negotiating research and research-related agreements with federal and state governments, non-profit sponsors and for-profit sponsors
  • Experience with electronic proposal submission portals


Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Kuali Research (KR) Software System Management
  • Broad knowledge and experience in working with diverse funding agencies and sponsors


Preferred Educational Qualifications

 

 

  • Master's degree


Preferred Experience

 

 

  • Three (3) or more years experience working as a university research administrator


Proposed Salary
$71,500 - $90,000
