COI Senior Analyst

Overview

Under general direction, the Conflict of Interest (COI) Research Compliance Analyst 3 will provide extensive high level analytical support to the COI Director and Office which is part of the Research Compliance and Integrity Program and is a highly specialized unit within the Research Affairs.

The COI Research Compliance Analyst 3 will independently identify and obtain necessary documentation to conduct complex reviews and analysis of disclosures of financial interest related to extramural sponsored research as required by Federal regulations, State law and UC policy, provide expertise and support for the technological infrastructure of the COI Office inclusive of an electronic COI system (provide analytical, design and configuration support during the development and implementation phase of the electronic COI system), interface with multiple institutional offices for documentation, proposal and award status, and provide operational support to the Independent Review Committee (IRC) on COI and the COI Management Subcommittee (COIMS).

In addition, the COI Research Compliance Analyst 3 will provide complex written reports of COI activities and trends to the Director. Compose correspondence for signature by the Chancellor, Chair of the IRC and other administrators as needed. Conduct post-award monitoring to ensure compliance with IRC and COIMS recommendations for the management of conflict of interest, Federal regulations, State law and UC policy. The COI Research Compliance Analyst 3 will assist in the design, development and presentation of training and education aimed at improving general knowledge of conflict of interest issues that directly impact UCSD investigators and staff. Implement decisions on issues that impact COI Office operations

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research compliance professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organization policies / procedures to apply federal, state, and university regulations, policies, and guidelines, and promote best practices. Interacts frequently with investigators, persons in other organizational departments, and occasionally persons outside the University. Interactions require the use of tact and independent judgment, knowledge of standards and best practices, and counseling to resolve a wide range of research compliance issues for COI and electronic system (such as Kuali COI). Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Errors or omissions may ultimately place research participant at undo risk and / or compromise the institution's assurance of regulatory compliance with the federal government for COI.
