ECE Department Manager

Overview

The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at Colorado State University is seeking a highly motivated individual to manage the staff and it’s financial and human resources to advance the mission of the department. The position will serve as a strategic advisor to the department head on a wide variety of issues, including but not limited to implementation and assessment of short- and long-term strategic plans, as well as oversight and management of budget and finances. A detailed understanding of finance and accounting; budgeting, forecasting, and planning; and effective management practices is required. Considerable understanding of the significance associated with the scientific research and teaching missions of the faculty is necessary in order to oversee current support for departmental activities and to plan creatively for the department’s future.

This position will also be responsible for researching, preparing, analyzing, and managing information related to projects, people, and programs. Independent judgment and analytical skills must be exercised to understand, interpret, and manage data related to faculty research, an academic department and scholarly work. All areas of responsibility for this position warrant a great deal of analysis to determine the best approach to projects within a broad set of general guidelines. This position requires the flexibility to deal effectively with a range of people, such as faculty, researchers, international scholars, university administrators, staff personnel, and students. The position may require occasional work on evenings and weekends, as necessary.
