Portland State University has an opening for a Sponsored Projects Officer (SPO) in the office of Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA), the centralized administrative unit at Portland State University. The SPO leads a team of research administrators responsible for submitting proposals for external funding on behalf of the institution; reviewing, negotiating, and accepting award terms and conditions with sponsors; overseeing award compliance and financial management; and preparing and submitting certified financial reports for a large volume and diverse set of complex federal and non-federal sponsored projects. In addition to supervising and mentoring the Grants & Agreements Analysts (GAA) and Departmental Research Administrators (DRA) on the Sponsored Projects Team and managing the team’s workload, the Officer serves as a member of the team, performing some of the same tasks as the GAAs and DRAs. The SPO serves as an Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) for PSU with authority to negotiate and accept awards; bind the institution to financial and administrative commitments; certify financial reports; and certify compliance with federal regulations on behalf of the institution in accordance with PSU’s Delegated Signature Authority Policy. This position requires a BA/BS with 4+ years of related experience. The starting annual salary rate for this position will be $67,450 - $78,100, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
