NC State University, Office of Contracts & Grants is accepting applications to fill the position of Associate Director, Post Award.  This position is located on NC State University campus in Raleigh, North Carolina; approximately 4 hours to the mountains and 2 hours to the Atlantic coast. Applications will be accepted starting September 13, 2021 and ending October 8, 2021 at 5:00 pm (Eastern Standard Time).

The Office of Contracts and Grants oversees post-award administration for NC State University. Contracts and Grants staff supports department and college Research Administrators, faculty, and staff by managing the cornerstones of Post-Award Administration including: project ID setup, deposits, invoicing, letter of credit draws, accounts receivable, financial reports to sponsors, new award/attribute review, audit coordination, project modification request approvals, regulatory checklists, effort reporting and general compliance oversight.

The Position:

The Associate Director, Post-Award serves in a chief administrative manager role by directing the specialized activities of the Strategic Partners Accountants and Accounts Receivable processes/transactions, developing reports for the General Administration, effectively managing resources, and collaborating with the Research Education and Training team to develop personnel skills and professional growth to achieve operational goals and objectives.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Utilizes their thorough understanding of the administrative and financial systems that capture and track award information from receipt to closeout to assist the Director wholly with formulating policies and recommending policy revisions when University, State and Federal policies evolve or as events dictate.
  • Keeps the Director apprised of events and the current status of sponsored research projects financial issues.
  • Provides oversight of office operations in the Director’s absence and serves as back-up for the Director on University boards and committees including the Research Operations Council, University Research Committee, and Research Support Council when directed.
  • Supervises, provides daily oversight, training, and guidance to a team consisting of six (6) Supervisory Senior Fiscal Managers and thirteen (13) Fiscal Managers.
  • Provides direction/guidance to Contracts & Grants personnel, faculty principal investigators, and other assigned campus representatives.
  • Serves as the Contracts & Grants liaison in the development and implementation of strategic training initiatives in collaboration with the Research Education and Training team.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Requires post-baccalaureate credentials or a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or other related disciplines with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework, and 10 years of University Research Administration related accounting experience with at least one year in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, UNC Systems and NC State University regulations and negotiated contract requirements to ensure compliance, and resolve conflicts between regulations and contract and possible non-compliant issues with OMB Circular A-133.
