We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Grants and Contracts (G&C) to join the Office of Research and Projects Administration (ORPA).

This is a key leadership position overseeing the Grants and Contracts unit in Research and Project Administration (RPA) within ORPA. You will advise and guide an expert team of research administration professionals and drive outstanding practices related to the pre-award and non-financial post-award administration of research grants and contracts funded by federal, state, and private agencies. This role requires a dedication to business knowledge and operational excellence. We thrive on a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, innovation, and partnership.

You will:

  • Develop strategies to maximize our sponsored research portfolio by staying on top of industry trends. Enhance the volume and quality of MSK’s sponsored research proposals through programmatic planning.
  • Work collaboratively within RPA, ORPA, and with partners in the research community to motivate changes in work products and processes that will improve unit and research enterprise efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership responsibility for an effective G&C team. This includes funding development, grants management, and contracts business functions.
  • Lead unit operations and prioritize workflow to ensure efficiency, regulatory compliance and sound operation.
  • Foster a strong results orientation within the unit by motivating staff and holding them accountable to meeting the needs of constituents, department and organizational goals.
  • Strategically partner with divisional leadership, faculty, administrative and clinical management staff. Plan and implement new department-wide and/or divisional or institutional programmatic initiatives.
  • Forge and maintain collaborative and positive relationships with constituents, senior leadership and external sponsors. Engage institutional partners to gain insights and/or to request system/process updates to meet business needs.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's and/or CRA or equivalent experience is preferred
  • 6-9 years experience in research administration 
  • 4-7 years experience leading and developing a team
  • Experience working in a sponsored projects environment in an Academic / Medical or Research Institution #LI-POST
