Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Contracts to join the Grants and Contracts (G&C) unit in the Office of Research and Projects Administration (ORPA).

The Manager, Contracts works directly with the Director, G&C, Senior Director, Research and Project Administration, ORPA staff, and RTM leadership to provide oversight for the cradle-to-grave negotiation and management of contracts, consistent with MSK business practices and all applicable sponsor regulations.

This includes routine and non-routine government, non-government, and other non-industry-sponsored research agreements and contracts, as well as incoming and outgoing subawards.

You will:

  • Be responsible for the management of the federal and institutional compliance policies and processes for MSK related to subawards and consortia. This includes comprehensive oversight and maintenance of ORPA's subrecipient monitoring and risk assessment program.
  • Manage and track all government, non-government and other non-industry sponsored research agreements and contracts from inception to completion. This includes sub-recipient monitoring, issuance of agreements, and maintenance of systems and databases.
  • Exercises delegated signature authority. Serve as the final reviewer and negotiator for all ORPA-managed research agreements. Provide second-level negotiation assistance to the Contracts Analyst and Contracts Specialist. Maximizes MSKs interests in the negotiation process and ensuring consistency and continuity across agreements.
  • Provide RTM, the MSK research community, and others with expertise in processing and driving the development of SOPs and technical tools for the tracking and management of various agreements and contracts. Participates in educational and training sessions for the MSK community.
  • Direct and supervise the Contracts team, including a Contracts Specialist and Contracts Analyst. Provide leadership and guidance.

You Need:

  • A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree
  • 5 years of experience in government, non-government and other non-industry sponsored research agreements and contracts functions, preferably in basic and translational research
  • Experience negotiating and administering research agreements and contracts, teaming agreements, non-disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, and knowledge of FAR, DFAR, CFR, and OMB Uniform Guidance preferred
  • To Independently apply a broad range of technical and specialized knowledge and significant job-related experience to handle complex work assignments.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to interact and communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
  • At least 2 years supervisory experience preferred #LI-POST
