Overview

The Office of Sponsored Projects inspires superior grant administration practice by developing and maintaining a robust grant administration infrastructure, and providing exceptional service and leadership in the pursuit and management of scholarly grant-related activities at Salt Lake Community College. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, highly organized individual to fill the open position of Grant Officer 2 or 3.

The Grant Officer 2 or 3 for Sponsored Projects and Research Administration is a key member of the Office of Sponsored Projects team and plays a crucial role in creating a culture of excellence in grant administration. Serving as a key team member managing a portfolio of sponsored projects throughout the grant life cycle, the Grant Officer 2 or 3 is an experienced professional in sponsored project administration.

The Grant Officer 2 or 3 is proficient in: funding identification, grant strategy, sponsored projects proposal development, budgeting, contracting and negotiation, subawards, compliance monitoring and reporting, sub recipient monitoring, uniform guidance interpretations, sponsored reporting and project management. The Grant Officer 2 or 3 is a professional who understands the principles of grant administration, follows established processes and procedures, and provides grant expertise, leadership, support and oversight to assigned College departments, faculty, principle investigators and project staff.

Specific to the Grant Officer 3 Position, the Grant Officer 3 is a seasoned professional, serves as a lead team member, mentors other grant officers, and will typically work with complex grants in different areas of the college.

This position is currently eligible for telecommuting work for Utah residents; the work schedule is required to primarily overlap normal college core hours Monday – Friday between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm Mountain time.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, communication, finance, public administration, healthcare administration, non-profit management, sciences, humanities, social sciences or related field.

Three (3) years (Grant Officer 2) or six (6) years (Grant Officer 3) of direct, full-time, paid experience in public grant administration (pre and post award), research administration, nonprofit grant management, government contract management, proposal development/grant writing, or budgeting.

Project management experience.

Preferred Qualificaitons: 

Strong preference given to candidates with the following qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in a related field
2. Six (6) years direct, full-time experience in grant administration or a combination of the areas listed above.
3. Experience in higher education setting.
4. Project Management Certification (PMI, CAPM, IPMA), Research Administration Certification (CRA, CPRA, CFRA), and/or Grant Writing Certification.
5. Experience with variety of federal sponsors such as National Science Foundation, Department of Education, Department of Labor, National Endowment of the Humanities, Health and Human Services, etc.
