Supervisor, Research Programs, POD 3

Overview

The George Washington University is recruiting for a full-time Supervisor, Research Programs to work in a dynamic and growing research environment in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and School of Nursing.

This position provides day-to-day administrative oversight for research activities within a unit. This is a working supervisor that ensures maintenance and enhancement of current infrastructure, quality assurance, administrative oversight, coordination of funded studies, and development of new grant submissions. This position typically oversees grant activities pre-award through closure, creates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures for the program, maintains overall program budget, shares information with the Principal Investigator (PI), addresses financial-related matters in coordination with the relevant administrators, oversees work schedules and updates personnel roles and responsibilities in coordination with the PI, and may periodically update the program website. This is a management position at the university that, in addition to leading a work unit, leads and supervises staff directly, makes hiring decisions, provides coaching, training and mentoring, manages performance and determines future staffing needs.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 4 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience in health and engineering research administration. Supervisory experience is desired.
