Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking an experienced research grant administrator (RA) to manage pre and post award activities for the GI/Nutrition Division.
Under the general direction of the Manager/Director and in collaboration with the research administrator III, the research grant administrator II  performs pre and post award functions for the GI research grants program.

The Research Administrator II will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating, preparing, and submitting grant applications; budget development; coordinating required institutional reviews and approvals;
  • working with Principal Investigators to ensure timely submission of funding proposals; managing federal, state, corporate, and private foundation sponsored funds, subcontracts, and/or projects supported by discretionary and endowment funds;
  • processing financial transactions according to established policies and procedures;
  • utilizing hospital financial systems to process and monitor financial transactions and reports; ensuring timely submission of completed effort reports; and conducting subrecipient monitoring.
  • Ensuring timely processing of new, competing and non-competing research applications by assisting faculty with all administrative components.
  • Working with principle Investigators to properly allocate salary costs while maintaining consistency with research effort reporting. The RA 2 liaises with Principal Investigators and is responsible for scheduling quarterly meetings with Principal Investigators to review grant balances, expenses, spending trends, and forecast budgets.

To qualify, you must have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of Research Administration experience required or 4 years of Research Administration experience may substitute for degree. 
  • The analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in‑depth, experienced‑based cross‑functional knowledge.
  • Communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, or well‑developed writing skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and database applications.  
  • The ability to work independently, to handle multiple priorities and simultaneous time deadlines, and to independently seek out answers from the appropriate grant publication and/or other resource. Work must be accurate as financial/grant consequences for the Department are significant.
  • Successful completion of all Research Administration Training initiatives.
