This Research Administrator I position will be responsible for:

  • Under general supervision, this position typically reports to the Department/Division/Program Manager and works closely with designated principal investigators in monitoring, and administering federal and/or state grant funds, private foundation grants, subcontracts, and projects supported by discretionary and endowment funds.

  • Developing an understanding of the research grant application process as well as sound financial management practices.

  • Assisting in the preparation of grant applications and coordination of required institutional reviews and approvals.

  • Preparing financial transactions according to established policies and procedures for approval by Department/Division/Program or Research Manager.

  • Utilizing hospital financial systems and financial reports to monitor monthly expenses on a grant by grant basis and ensure compliance with sponsor/donor regulations.

  • Preparing financial reports for principal investigators, on a regular basis, to assist them in monitoring rates of spending. Will participate in departmental administration of effort reporting.

  • Participating as liaison with appropriate CHB central administration offices to represent the needs of the research faculty, i.e. Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, Purchasing, and Research Administration.

  • Participating as a departmental resource on grant application, submission and accounting issues. 

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or 2 years of Research Administration experience may substitute for degree.

  • The analytical skills to resolve complex problems.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and database applications.
