Research Administrator, Nanovaccine Institute
Overview
The Nanovaccine Institute is seeking candidates for a Research Administrator II. The Nanovaccine Institute is a consortium of 70 researchers at 21 universities, research institutes, national laboratories, and companies, coordinated by Iowa State University. The Institute's life-saving medical research is developing vaccines and immunotherapeutics for a range of diseases, including COVID-19. This ambitious research will soon move into clinical trials and commercialization.
The Research Administrator will manage more than $8 million of annual sponsored program spending on approximately 20 grant and research contract accounts in a growing award portfolio. Our grant-funded research projects have doubled in the past year.
Grant and contract financial management will include reviewing and approving expenditures, preparing reports and monitoring budgets, reconciling accounts, initiating corrective actions, creating and submitting budget amendments, and calculating salary allocations. This administrator will also prepare and monitor the overall Institute budget, and assist faculty with budgets and budget documents for grant proposals.
This position is a term 5 year position with the possibility for renewal and could offer a flex remote working arrangement.

Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of how to use Workday software for budget, purchasing, and payroll
- Experience with developing, preparing and managing budgets including subcontracts
- Experience with analyzing, consolidating and interpreting accounting data
- Previous post-award grants management experience
