Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Director of Sponsored Programs
Overview
Summary of Job Duties: The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Director of Sponsored Programs is responsible for the day-to-day operational oversight and management of sponsored programs activities. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Director of Sponsored Programs provides overall direction and supervision of the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) to ensure that the mission of the office is pursued effectively. Fully committed to delivering best in class services, the OSP serves as the central coordination point for all sponsored program grants and contracts, and partners with faculty and staff to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
- At least five years of experience in sponsored research administration including at least two years of supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree and/or PhD or professional terminal degree
- from an accredited institution of higher education
- Advanced training and/or certification in research development or sponsored-research administration
- Experience and working knowledge of grant administration, pre-award and post-award, including federal and state regulations
- Experience and solid understanding of the role of grants in higher education
- Experience and proficiency in computer programs relevant to the work, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and programs related to grant development and submission, internet-based and otherwise
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Excellent communication skills, in both oral and written format
- Ability to simultaneously, and successfully, manage multiple projects and initiatives
- Ability to supervise, coach, and develop supervised personnel
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of constituents, both internal and external
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends for the purpose of meeting deadlines and cultivating grant opportunities
