Associate Director

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for an Associate Director for the College of Engineering within the department of College Grants & Contracts. The primary purpose of the College Grants & Contracts office is to meet the research administration and scholarly activity needs of The William States Lee College of Engineering by providing customer service that balances flexibility with compliance, while building a bridge of partnerships with our internal and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree required, or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 5 years of relevant experience; Certified Research Administrator (CRA) designation or equivalent or the ability and willingness to obtain within 12 months of hire. Experience and ability to prepare, analyze and revise detailed proposal budgets, the ability to comprehend, interpret and apply agency guideline requirements; knowledge of federal funding regulations; and a level of professionalism, maturity and experience sufficient to earn the trust, respect and credibility of Faculty are required.

Essential Job Duties: The Associate Director functions in a professional capacity to facilitate research and sponsored activity across the College of Engineering and UNC Charlotte, while constantly striving to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of research administration services and to minimize institutional financial and reputational risk. Independently manage and oversee sponsored projects at the College level to ensure compliance with the management of all relevant Federal, State, UNC System, Campus and Agency regulations. The position of Associate Director holds major responsibilities in the area of post-award administration and proposal development /review. The Associate Director supports the overall advancement of The William States Lee College of Engineering’s research enterprise. Additionally, the Associate Director will perform additional duties at the discretion of the Director.
