JOB PURPOSE:

The Office of the Vice President for Research & Economic Development is a service organization to the faculty, staff and students of the University of Wyoming. It is our goal to provide swift, accurate and expert service to enhance the research missions of individuals and various units within the University.

The Office of Research & Economic Development  (ORED) works with faculty, staff and students across campus to link research, technology transfer, and economic development efforts to enhance federal, state and private sector support for faculty and graduate student scholarship.

The Research Services team within ORED is expanding and is seeking a Research Services Coordinator to assist with the administration and management of the pre-award activities related to the research and sponsored project enterprise and to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide pre-award services to University community (including off-campus sites) related to research and other sponsored projects including development and preparation of proposals and project budgets. 
  • Assist the University community (including off-campus sites) in submission and pre-award administration related to research and other sponsored programs. This includes the development and preparation of proposals and project budgets. Review proposals for UW and sponsor compliance and approving proposals for submission on behalf of the institution.
  • Receive, review and negotiate incoming contracts/grants/agreements and recommend them for authorized signature.
  • Represent UW in interactions with sponsor agencies to obtain and provide information to support proposals and current research projects.  Negotiate award conditions (including budget revisions) and contracts on behalf of UW.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Programs on the set-up of fully executed awards.
  • Serve as a resource to faculty, staff and students.
  • Remain current and informed of federal policy and regulation, agency requirements and national issues related to research administration.
  • Assist in developing and delivering training for the university community on research administration topics and systems

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform special projects, as directed.
  • May serve on University and/or external committees or task forces as necessary.
  • Attend conferences and workshops applicable to research administration.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree

Experience:  2 years work-related experience working or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with grants and/or contracts.
  • Excellent written, oral, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and in person.
  • Ability to prioritize, work and communicate well with others in a dynamic environment.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability of Analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing excellent customer service skills.
  • Problem-Solving approach.
  • Experience with word processing/spreadsheet applications and internet navigation.
  • Knowledge and application of federal regulations and agency guidelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, students and University administrators in diverse disciplines.
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
  • Experience in budget development basic understanding of grant accounting practices and federal budget guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure in a deadline driven environment with a high standard of quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Certified Research Administrator® (CRA), Certified Pre-Award Research Administrator (CPRA®), or Certified Financial Research Administrator (CFRA).
