Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health (D-HH) seeks an experienced, proactive Director of Research Operations Finance (ROF). Reporting to the Vice President of Research Operations and based in Lebanon, New Hampshire, the Director will lead a team of approximately 34 dynamic professionals who provide a broad range of contract and grant services on behalf of Dartmouth- Hitchcock Health in support of research faculty and fellows who seek funding from government or non-profit sponsors. The Director of ROF will oversee services including but not limited to: the review, endorsement, and submission of funding proposals; negotiation and execution of contracts and grant agreements; issuance and negotiation of subawards; managing post-award changes; and collecting, managing, and reporting research administration data including performance metrics. This individual will be a strong manager, an active problem-solver, and serve as a resource providing expertise, assistance, and education to the health system community. The ideal person for this role will have significant experience managing contract and grant operations in an environment similar in size and complexity to D-HH; and a deep understanding of the field’s current and emerging regulatory requirements and guidance.
As a part of the Office of Research Operations, the Director will play a key role in leading the financial management processes related to clinical and translational research activities at D-HH. The Director will work in collaboration with the leadership to achieve financial performance goals as well as advance the long-term objectives of the research enterprise. This person will be responsible for strengthening the processes and operations that govern pre- and post-award as well as sponsored projects administration. These activities contribute to D-HH’s overall research enterprise, representing nearly $32 million of annual awarded grants for FY19, with 415 new submissions across D-HH.

In partnership with the Theodor and Audrey Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College and the Center for Nursing Excellence, D-HH conducts world-class research and training for the next generation of doctors and nurses. The robust research enterprise is supported by an equally committed community of researchers, practitioners, and administrators. The collaborative ingenuity and innovation that characterizes D-HH contributes to many notable advances in medicine and research. In 2013, researchers from D-HH, the Geisel School of Medicine, and the Thayer School of Engineering opened the Center for Surgical Innovation with a combined total of $13.9 million in NIH funding. The Center is a one-of-a-kind research facility dedicated to improving surgical procedures and developing new surgical tools to improve patient care. At a time when there is both significant growth in the region and profound community need, D-HH is poised to play an ever more vital and transformational leadership role. D-HH serves a population of 1.9 million across northern New England and trains 400 residents and fellows annually.
