Chief Risk & Compliance Officer

Overview

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is a research university and academic health center that discovers, teaches and applies knowledge for the intellectual, cultural, social and economic benefit of Birmingham, the state and beyond. The Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, together with the President’s Risk Cabinet, establishes and facilitates governance processes for UAB risk and compliance priorities. As the lead UAB senior executive responsible for oversight of the University-wide risk and compliance program, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing institutional risk assessments and providing advice and recommendations for resource investments to monitor, manage and mitigate risk and compliance matters.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree strongly preferred
  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience in the administration of a large, complex compliance program
  • Any of the following certifications:
    • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)
    • Health Care Compliance (CHC)
    • Certification in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC)
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
    • Certified in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research compliance gained through experience in a research-intensive institution
  • Administrative and project management skills, particularly among cross-functional teams
  • Ability to balance and effectively prioritize numerous projects covering a variety of subject matters
