About the Role

ORCID is maturing as an organization and we are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic professional for the position of Engagement Lead, United States & Canada: Government & Funding Agencies. This role will contribute to the success of our organization as part of the Americas Engagement Team, as we scale our operations through North, Central, South Americas and the Caribbean. As for all ORCID staff, this position is remote and works via video conference and various collaboration tools. The position is full-time and requires the ability to travel within the US & Canada as well as internationally. 

About the Engagement Team

Engagement is all about interacting with ORCID communities. All members of the team share responsibility for user adoption, system integrations, and membership. The ten-person team is divided into three regions, Asia-Pacific, Europe-Middle-East-Africa and the Americas team.  

The key high-level processes and responsibilities of the Engagement Team are to:

  • Foster the core values of ORCID and build “communities of practice”.
  • Be the face of ORCID by engaging with communities and organizations to demonstrate membership value through events, presentations, workshops and webinars. 
  • Support financial sustainability by recruiting, onboarding, and renewing members.
  • Support new and current member system integration with the ORCID API.
  • Support current and develop new consortia.
  • Share what we learn through internal platforms and record keeping.
  • Enable ORCID’s continued growth and impact internationally.

Lead Responsibilities

Reporting to the Engagement Manager, Americas, the Engagement Lead, United States & Canada- Government & Funding Agencies, is responsible for leading and developing ORCID adoption by implementing key strategies to promote and facilitate ORCID adoption, through membership and integrations.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Work closely with the Engagement Manager, Americas to develop and implement strategic plans to support and grow ORCID communities related to the United States & Canada- Government & Funding Agencies. 
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate engagement activities in government and funding agency research-related communities to increase ORCID awareness and adoption. Identify and develop best practices for outreach and engagement; specifically by providing presentations, webinars, workshops and other means of effectively engaging the research community.  
  • Work closely with American and Canadian ORCID-consortia to grow ORCID awareness, membership and integrations with government and funding agencies. 
  • Manage relationships with ORCID members, from lead opportunity stage through onboarding, system integration with ORCID’s API, stakeholder engagement, communications, and manage on-going membership renewals.
  • Provide Tier 1 technical support for members and liaise Tier 2 help desk support with ORCID’s Technical Team.
  • Work with the Americas Engagement Team to strategically grow ORCID adoption and integration throughout the Americas. 
  • Work collaboratively with all of ORCID’s teams to implement short and long-term strategies.  

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship is required
  • Preference will be given to Washington DC-based candidates, but candidates who can travel frequently to the area will be considered
  • 3-5 years experience working with APIs, system administration, metadata & providing technical support.
  • 3-5 years of account management and/or sales experience
  • Experience related to research administration is preferred
  • Familiarity with American & Canadian research communities, government & funding agencies.
  • Excellent communication skills required, including experience presenting virtually and in-person.
  • Ability to work independently, self-motivated and in team environments at the regional and international levels. 
  • Detail-oriented and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20%, including both domestic and international travel.
  • Fluency in English required. Additional languages a plus.
