Director, Research Administration

Overview

JOB SUMMARY:

 

 

The Division Director, Research Administration is responsible for operational departments, programs and policies, facility and equipment planning that enable the conduct of research, training and entrepreneurial activities of the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (LIMR).

 Essential Accountabilities:  

A. Administrator for the following departments:

  1. Research Services (Grants Management & Editorial)
  2. Building and Scientific Operations (Physical Plant & Apparatus)
  3. Vivarium (Preclinical Research Center)
  4. Glasswash and Receiving
  5. Histology Services

B. Administrator for the following institutional programs and policies:

  1. Animal care program managed by the Vivarium Supervisor and IACUC.  May include role as Chair of IACUC (optional at discretion of LIMR President).
  2. Biosafety program managed by the faculty chair of the Biosafety Committee, and other safety activities within LIMR mandated by MLH or the President.
  3. Trainee and internship programs managed by the faculty chair of the Training Committee.
  4. Space management and renovations.
  5. Equipment management, monitoring and report documents.
  6. Scientific policies including but not limited to Financial Conflict of Interest policy and Scientific misconduct policy.
  7. iEdison invention reporting.

Other Accountabilities:

Serves as administrative liaison for the institutional directors/chairs of the following areas, as directed by President, for 

  1. IP management and technology transfer.
  2. Research agreements and contracts including but not limited to affiliation, licensing, equipment maintenance, material transfer, confidentiality.
  3. Employee immigration and visa matters.
  4. Faculty committee matters.
  5. Recruitment of biomedical companies to the LIMR biotechnology incubator.

      6. Various other administrative or service responsibilities at LIMR as assigned by the President. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

Education:  Ph.D. in a biomedical science or equivalent experience with a background in research, research administration and/or project management.

EXPERIENCE:

 

 

At least seven (7) years experience in research administration and/or project management, including as either academic or industrial experience. Supervisory experience required. 

Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills with the ability to solve problems and meet deadlines.
