Princeton University seeks an experienced and highly motivated individual to serve as Grants Manager in the Princeton Institute for the Science & Technology of Materials (PRISM). Reporting to the Business Manager, the position will be responsible for pre- and post- award activities related to sponsored project grants, including faculty research and career awards, as well as center grants and awards. The Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials (PRISM) is an interdisciplinary research center at Princeton University that seeks to integrate the sciences and engineering, with work spanning from fundamental theory through applications and entrepreneurship. PRISM interacts closely internally with other departments and externally with industry, government laboratories and other academic institutions.

 


Responsibilities

Pre-award Grant Management:

 

 

 

~ Collaborates with PI(s) and department administrators to successfully identify Sponsored Programs.

~ Consults and advises with project members on content, timing and documentation necessary for proposals to be submitted to funding sources.

~ Prepares proposal submission documents in compliance with Princeton University and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.

~ Develops budget proposal and related documents.

~ Submits and routes proposals to sponsoring agencies.

 

Post Award Management:

~ Initiates and coordinates award/sub-award/contract process; handles grant extensions, supplements, re-budgeting and transfers to other institutions.

~ Coordinates with department administrators concerning personnel on grants.

~ Administers sponsored research expenditures and assures documentation is accurate and appropriate.

~ Monitors allowable and allocable costs, spending patterns and balances to prepare financial reports.

~ Provides financial analysis of sponsored research spending and projections and administers effort certification process.

~ Prepares tracking reports for required deliverables and assists with the preparation and submission of progress reports and close-out documents as required by Princeton University and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.

 

Financial administration:

~ Assists with the preparation, review and analysis of financial reports for the Institute’s non-sponsored funds, including endowments, term gifts and university funds.

~ Coordinates day-to-day financial functions, including assisting with labor accounting and expense activity.

~ Reviews and approves expenditures up to assigned approval threshold.

 

Compliance:

~ Communicates sponsored research and university financial policies and regulations to faculty, staff, and students; ensures compliance to applicable laws, policies and procedures; and, serves as a liaison to university research administrators.

~ Evaluates and recommends operational efficiencies and improvements to business processes.

~ Ensures accuracy and timeliness of all grant related materials and applications.

~ Participates in meetings, workshops, and training sessions for regulatory compliance pertaining to grants and contracts.

 

Other:

~ Assists the Business Manager with other job-related projects and duties as identified.


Qualifications

 

 

 

 

 

~ Bachelor’s Degree and 2 + years of related experience

~ Knowledge of grant proposal process and grant administration required; knowledge of financial analysis and projection, accounting processes and budgeting is required.

~ Knowledge of government sponsors guidelines helpful.

~ The successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, demonstrate initiative, work independently in a fast-paced environment, and have strong organizational and interpersonal skills
