Associate Director, Post-Award Grants Management

SUMMARY
The Associate Director serves as a member of a team of professionals in the MD Anderson Cancer Centers (MDACC) Grants & Contracts Office (G&C), providing direct support for all phases of post-award support for sponsored projects and supervises employees in the grant administration area.
Within Financial Management/Award Management/Data and Agreement Management, the Associate Director provides guidance to the Team Managers and Staff who perform the majority of the day-to-day tasks related to sponsored projects by serving as an expert resource on all aspects of research administration. The individual in this position will have overall responsibility for the management of sponsored programs Post-Award Administration processes, ensuring financial and non-financial compliance with Federal and sponsor regulations and Institutional policies and provide counsel and support to G&C Managers and Staff regarding financial matters related to sponsored projects.
Key Functions

Build quality assurance into the work performed by supervised personnel, working with the Managers and others to select personnel, coordinate and develop on the job training for these personnel, mentoring these personnel, motivating these personnel, and measuring the performance of these personnel. (40%)

Oversee ongoing operational activities (20%), including:

Award Management: Monitoring of sponsored award spending for allowability and compliance with federal and sponsor regulations, managing payroll and sponsored project effort, preparation of required financial and accounting reports to sponsors, sponsored project financial and non-financial closeout according to Institutional policy and good accounting practices and institutional audit engagement and response.

Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and funding terms and conditions through development and implementation of review/monitoring protocols and through follow-up of all audit findings and responses that relate to Award/Financial/Data and Agreement Management. (10%)

Ensure provision of customer service assistance to faculty, staff, and personnel from outside agencies in the ongoing administration of grants and contracts by serving as an expert resource to the Team Managers and Staff. (10%)

Provide assistance to the Executive Director of G&C with the development and internal and external implementation of policies and procedures related to sponsored programs management. (10%)

Work with Principal Investigators, Division and Department Administration and Sponsors to resolve complex issues. (10%)
