Grant Program Coordinator

Overview

The Office of Sponsored Projects Administration (OSPA) is seeking a Grant Program Coordinator. The Grant Program Coordinator will be responsible for the administration of external sponsored projects (grants and contracts) across the University of Kentucky (UK), with a focus on the Substance Abuse Research Priority Area. Substance Abuse is one of six Research Priority Areas established by the Vice President for Research. These are existing areas of strength, with local relevance, sustainability over time, and diversity of research disciplines. UK is targeting innovative, collaborative and complex new projects in these areas.

The Grant Program Coordinator will serve as an expert to answer questions on routing and complicated grants administration and reporting issues, submit proposals in compliance with sponsor and university policies, ensure accurate and timely completion of key post-award processes, independently solve problems related to proposals and awards, develop standard operating procedures and implement process improvements.

The coordinator position, located within in the Center for Drug and Alcohol Research, will provide day-to-day management of sponsored projects and will work closely with the Principal Investigator(s), College Grants Officer, Research Administrator and Shared Services Manager(s). A successful candidate will understand, interpret and research complex and varied regulations; think critically and work collegially in order to successfully resolve questions and issues for faculty, staff and colleagues; communicate timely and professionally to a diverse range of individuals; be able to multitask and prioritize; have strong attention to detail; and a willingness to be a lifelong learner.

OSPA is responsible for administering more than $390 million in extramural grants and contracts awarded through the University of Kentucky Research Foundation. Services, available to all UK faculty and staff, include advice and assistance with budget preparation and other administrative requirements of proposals; proposal submission; review, negotiation and acceptance of awards; interpretation and information regarding sponsor policies and regulations; preparation of subcontract documents; administration of UK’s Conflict of Interest Policy.
