Sr. Grants and Contracts Specialist

Overview

Children's Research Institute (CRI) at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX is seeking a Sr. Grants & Contracts Specialist to be part of a team supporting faculty, postdoctoral fellows and students in obtaining and managing research funds. As a seasoned professional and under minimal supervision, the Sr. Grants & Contracts Specialist will support innovative research at the interface of cancer, metabolism and regenerative medicine. As an integral team member, the Sr. Grants & Contracts Specialist will work with all aspects of pre- and post- award finances, contracts, endowments and gifts.

Experience and Education

Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or related field and four (4) years of experience in business or public administration with emphasis on customer service in financial o r contracting position.  Strong preference will be given to candidates with grants experience in academic institutions of higher learning.

Job Duties

  • Partners with faculty, postdoctoral fellows or students on the planning and development of application submissions to various federal, state, and private sponsors, including grant preparation, budget development and grant submission.
  • Provides guidance to researchers for proposal development and submission by interpreting and ensuring adherence to sponsor and university announcements and guidelines.
  • Provides grants management support to researchers by negotiating and processing awards, interpreting award conditions, obtaining approvals for award modifications, and completing required reports.
  • Manages related post-award processes including award setup, compliance reporting, cost transfers, and grant closeouts.
