ROLE of the POSITION
This position will assist the College of Engineering Faculty to manage and control the financial and business operations related to post-award and grant funds. This position will also administer the Indirect Cost Recovery distribution within the college; provide support preparing transactional documents such as major or specific purchase orders, deposits, and grant fund transfers, faculty summer contracts, research assistant contracts, and oversees documents as minor purchase orders, travel documents, and others for grant funds. Prepare fiduciary reports for technical and budgeting purposes such as; research expenditures, budgets, projections, private and federal agencies. Assist the College with all other programs and administration as needed.
The Financial Administrative Specialist will work closely with the college’s professional staff as well as staff in the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), Controllers Office, Human Resources, Purchasing, and Accounts Payable.
Must have a solid knowledge of NSHE and UNLV policies and procedures pertaining to business functions. Responsible for interpretation and compliance of federal procurement regulations, including the CFR & FAR, and the Uniform Guidance and audit regulations (A-133) that pertain to institutions of higher education. Excellent communication skills.
This position requires a Bachelor Degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
Preferred qualifications: Candidates with an educational background in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or closely related field, and at least three years of related professional experience in the academic environment or two years related supervisory experience working in an executive level office.
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
