Director of Business and Research Support Operations

Overview

The Director of Business and Research Support Operations in the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering is a full-time senior manager that provides vision and leadership to the college’s business and research support services. The individual in this position oversees approximately 18 full time staff members, and must provide the vision and leadership to integrate EBO and RBO operations. The individual in this position also serves as a strategic advisor to the college leadership on a wide variety of issues related to the research mission of the college. This position is responsible for improvements in business and research related support services, projections of research funding, financial reporting, advice on policy improvements, and providing strong leadership for the staff in the business and research offices. Additionally, the Director represents the college on appropriate university-wide committees and initiatives. Independent judgment and analytical skills must be exercised to understand, interpret, and manage data and technical information. All areas of responsibility for this position warrant a great deal of independent analysis to determine the best approach to achieve integrated business and research support. This position requires the skills and flexibility to interact effectively with a range of people, such as faculty, researchers, central research and business offices staff, university administrators, college staff, and students. This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Operations.
