Sponsored Research Administrator

Sponsored Research Administrator position is available in the Sponsored Research Office.  The Sponsored Research Office (SRO) provides timely, high-quality and coordinated pre-award and post-award research administrative services to SBP faculty, researchers and other SBP department administrators for sponsored projects.

Under general direction, the Sponsored Research Administrator will prepare, review and submit grant, contract and cooperative agreement proposals for research training and other sponsored programs. In addition, the SRA will aid in ensuring institutional compliance with all federal and state regulations, agency sponsor policies and terms and conditions of an award.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conducts searches and disseminates information for public and private funding opportunities
  • Reviews and submits proposals for sponsored research grants, contracts and fellowships
  • Assists in the development and/or revision of proposal and award budgets
  • Reviews and prepares for acceptance grants, contracts, and subcontract awards
  • Prepares subcontract agreements issued under SBPs prime awards
  • Serves as liaison with NIH and other agency sponsors for proposal and award management matters
  • Advises and assists SBP faculty, researchers and other department administrators in interpreting proposal guidelines, award terms and conditions, and resolving problems that may develop in the course of funded projects
  • Reviews and submits quarterly, annual, and final required reports
  • Monitors sponsored project activities during the life of the award
  • Creates and maintains system records for documenting and reporting on sponsored research activity
  • Remains current and up-to-date on new or changing sponsor guidelines, policies and procedures 

 

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and one year related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained is required
  • Two or more years’ experience is a plus
  • Prior experience with preparing NIH and other major granting agency proposals is strongly preferred, as is familiarity with scientific research nomenclature
  • Prior experience and a general understanding of grants and the grant application/submission processes
