Overview
The Director, Pre-Award is a member of the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) leadership team responsible for the management and supervision of all pre-award extramural sponsored grant and contract functions in the Office of Sponsored Projects. The Director, Pre-Award oversees and supervises teams consisting of Grant and Contract Administrators (GCA) and Grand and Contract Coordinators in carrying out pre-award functions including, but not limited to, providing pre-proposal services to faculty such as budget development, proposal review and submission as well as developing and conducting workshops on grants and contracts administration. The Director, Pre-Award also oversees the review, negotiation, and acceptance of grant terms and conditions and sponsored contracts. Reports to the Associate Vice President for Sponsored Projects (AVPSP). Examples of Duties: Manage and supervise all pre-award functions in the Office of Sponsored Projects Develop, direct, and monitor processes for the review and timely submission of grant and contract proposals to funding agencies Direct and track the workflow and assignments of grant and contract proposals to teams Review proposed cost-share commitments, Facilities and Administrative (F&A) waivers, and other requests and make recommendation for approval or non-approval to the AVP, Sponsored Projects Monitor the timeliness of the review and acceptance of incoming sponsored awards In collaboration with Director, Post-Award, monitor award set-up and activation process to ensure timely handling and execution In collaboration with the Director, Post-Award, monitor the process for outgoing subcontracts/subawards to ensure timely handling and execution Track grant and contract proposals, collect and share proposal data with deans Prepare templates and other resource documents to assist teams and Principal Investigators (PIs) with various components of grant and contract proposals Review outgoing grant and contract proposals for institutional approval prior to submission to funding agencies Review and execute (when applicable) institutional certification and assurances documents Work closely with colleagues in Regulatory Compliance (IRB, IACUC) to identify proposals involving human or animal subjects Work closely with the Technology Transfer to identify potential intellectual property issues or concerns referenced in proposals Provide oversight, guidance, and technical expertise to Sponsored Projects Officer/GCA, Grant and Contract Administrators (GCA), Grant and Contract Coordinators (GCC), and Sr. Contracts Administrator on complex pre-award and contractual sponsored project compliance matters such as budgeting, cost allowability, PI and other key personnel eligibility and changes Serve as the point of contact to funding agencies and assist faculty in contacting funding program officers to discuss and/or inquire about pre-award matters Coordinate with Director, Post-Award on external and internal audits, including OMB Uniform Guidance single and State audits |

Commensurate with experience. **The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. |
