Pre-Award Grants Specialist II
Overview
Purpose:
This position is responsible for administering and facilitating the pre-award grant preparation and submission process as well as other Pre-Award activities in the Office of Grants and Contracts at Magee-Womens Research Institute and Foundation.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to ensure compliance with financial and administrative award terms and conditions
- Analyze budget justification for accuracy and thoroughness
- Assist principal investigator and/or project administrators with proposal submission and preparation of grant and contract budgets following specific guidelines
- Be a reference for others in the Office of Grants and Contracts and provided training and assist with solving issues.
- Collaborate with Grant Specialist II and Team Leaders on revising the information on the OGC website to keep it current and accurate.
- Coordinate Other Support changes with project
- Direct daily contact and interaction with PI and research staff, various staff and departments, and other Office of Grants and Contracts team members
- Identify, suggest, and develop training tools for the research community.
- Prepare and process requests for early account numbers
- Process Just In Time (JIT) information requests from sponsoring agency
- Process Notice of Grant Awards, Budget Modifications, and other Grant-related Documents
- Provide policy interpretation and procedure guidance to principal investigators and their staff
- Remain current and knowledgeable on agency and procedures and requirements concerning grants management issues
- Required to maintain confidentiality of classified and sensitive information
- Responsible for on-going review and analysis of processes and actively contributing to process improvements for the OGC.
- Serve on committees engaged to assess procedures and possible changes in the way the OGC conducts busines
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required preferably in Business Administration or Public Administration.
- Two years of experience working with grants management in an academic setting, OR two years of experience working in research administration is required.
- An equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
- Ability to excise independent judgment to resolve complex problems. Capable to work autonomously but within a team environment.
- Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
Preferences:
- Prior experience with account and/or grant management in an academic setting.
- Knowledge of OMB Circulars A-21, A-110, & A-133 and the NIH Grants Policy Statement Detailed knowledge of federal, state, and private sponsor regulations and procedures applicable to grants and contracts.
- Project administration and/or project management experience preferably in a research setting.
- Experience managing or negotiating clinical trial agreements
- Experience with client relations preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Excellent analytic ability and negotiating skills.
- Personality - outgoing, friendly, deadline driven and customer service oriented.
