SENIOR GRANTS SPECIALIST

 

Barry University, Grants & Sponsored Programs (GSP) department is currently seeking a Senior Grants Specialist. Located in sunny South Florida, with a 120 acre main campus, Barry University is a Division II school with 19 national sports titles and 6 Colleges (Arts/Sciences, Business, Education, Nursing/Health Professions, Social Work, and Professional Adult Education) and 2 professional schools LAW (Orlando campus) & PODIATRY (Barry has the only podiatry school in the US Southeast).

 

The Senior Grants Specialist (SGS) coordinates the process of identifying grant opportunities and independently works on grant applications and coordinates activity with University Faculty/Staff . The Senior Grants Specialist will effectively participate in the grant process; including analysis of grant opportunities and obtaining relevant information from staff/faculty for the writing and development of grant applications. Prior experience in a university grants position is required.

  • Implements best practice policies and procedures for accomplishing department objectives.
  • Coordinates the process of grant opportunity identification.
  • Independently evaluates grant opportunities, produces internal checklists, work with faculty and staff on application and develops budgets for grant submissions.
  • Maintains multiple tracking reports and produces monthly statistics.
  • Collaborates with GSP Director and post-award Financial Grants Management (FGM) personnel for assigned duties.
  • Coordinate with on the report-to-funder process and the internal and external publicizing processes for grants that are awarded.
  • Work directly with Barry University Community to foster grant applications.  Routinely meets with faculty and staff to develop the applications and steward the process to completion.  Understands barriers to submissions and works to overcome.
  • Writes and reviews letters of intent for submissions
  • Coordinates all grant specialist functions, (may supervisor Work Study Students). Maintains grant opportunity calendar and track individual tasks.
  • Works on special projects as assigned, such as, updating/writing SOP’s, input to the GSP web-site and works with Major Gifts & FGM team for continuous updates. Performs other work-related duties as assigned or required.
