Senior Research Administrator, UNLV Office of Sponsored Programs

Overview

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Senior Research Administrator, Office of Sponsored Programs [R0113274]. This position will have the primary function of cradle to grave operations management for the Office of Sponsored Programs.  This position will provide support to the Research Administration Manager and be a dedicated lead for a department and provide backup to the other Research Administrators on their team. 

This position is responsible for all areas of research administration, including both pre- and post-award functions. The Senior Research Administrator is expected to provide sponsored project support from proposal to project close out also known as cradle-to-grave administration throughout the life of awarded sponsored projects.  The position administers over 100+ awarded projects.  In this role, the SRA will assist faculty and staff to provide, but not limited to:

  • Monitor funding opportunities and provide program information,
  • Prepare, review and submit applications and ensure proposals are complete and in compliance with university and NSHE policies, state and federal laws and regulations, and align with the policies, procedures and requirements of sponsoring agencies,
  • Work with the Contract Manager to review and negotiate proposals and awards,
  • Prepare contractual agreements,
  • Administer information in Workday,
  • Administer sponsored projects for fiscal (effort, expenditures, cost-sharing) and programmatic compliance,
  • Monitor budgets,
  • Assist with developing and providing relevant training and presentations to faculty and staff,
  • Other duties may be required or assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following areas of responsibility within the Office of Sponsored Programs:

  • Assist faculty in securing external support for their research, training and public service programs.  Provide information and advice on funding opportunities and provide proposal development assistance.
  • Reviews and negotiates grant and contract terms & conditions on behalf of the University.
  • Contract Preparation.
  • Assist in training other research administrators, faculty and administrators to understand and develop grant knowledge.
  • Direct and supervise special projects and assignments.
  • Regularly reviews federal register codes and regulations and participates in webinars for regulatory compliance pertaining to contracts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
