University Program Specialist

Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the administrators, faculty, staff and sponsors with pre award services related to extramural funding for North Carolina Central University. The pre-award administrator explains, interprets and implements, university, state and federal regulations related to grant activities. This position is to assists the campus with several areas of research administration including but not limited to: proposal submissions, award execution, budget transfers and various agency requests. This position will also be responsible for managing the departmental budget.

 

The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of Banner Finance or an equivalent system;
knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word and Excel) Applications; knowledge of Pre-Award and Post Award Grants; knowledge of Research Administration Management System and eSubmission (RAMSeS); Knowledge of Grants Federal Laws; ability to update development and implementation of internal policies/procedures; ability to provide reports and respond to request for information from coworkers and customers; ability to process budget transfers and budget modification requests on all sponsored projects; ability to manage and monitor the departmental budget to ensure invoices are paid; ability to analyze each transaction according to the award terms and conditions; ability to provide expert guidance on pre-award grants management and resolve concerns from customers; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in a high pressure environment.

Initiate internal project set-up for funding awarded and assist in the processing of pre-award and non-financial post-award sponsored research related activities for all projects managed by OSRP.
